Capital Gran Prix countdown begins

The clock is now ticking on this year’s inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Gran Prix – quite literally.

To give motor racing fans a second by second countdown to the launch of the greatest sporting event to be staged in the UAE, race officials have erected a special clock in the centre of the Corniche.

The 8m high clock is counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the world’s best drivers accelerate down Yas Marina Circuits main straight in the final race of the 2009 Formula One season.

” With only 15 weeks to go to the first Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Gran Prix on 1st November, we want everyone to share in the anticipation and excitement of one of Abu Dhabi’s biggest sporting events”.
